Core Method Practices have been well supported by members. It is good to see a number of people gaining confidence in hunting to methods and covering with ropesight skills, as well as providing an opportunity for those getting into Plain Bob, Reverse Canterbury and Grandsire Doubles. For those more confident we are exploring touches of all three core methods and there is an opportunity to work towards your first Quarter Peal if desired and to complete your ‘Learning the Ropes’ Blue Books to level 5.
For practices we are working on developing 3 essential skills:
- Looking at and studying methods and theory in advance.
- Trying it one thing at a time on different bells and then reflecting on how to progress.
- Asking for a ‘shadow’ if needed.
Whether you are just starting Plain Hunt and Covering skills or diving into the early stages of method ringing and wondering if this practice is for you then please contact dcacbr@gmail.com. These sessions are normally held on Tuesdays at either Milborne St Andrew (DT11 0JR) or Winterborne Kingston (DT11 9BA), which each have a toilet and refreshment facilities available. They run from 10.30 a.m. until 12 noon and are fairly central points for ringers travelling from as far afield as Poole, Crewkerne and Bridport.
